The Guide
The Harry Potter Locations You Can See From a Cab
London stood in for the wizarding world in a handful of streets and bridges. A cab links them in an afternoon.
A Harry Potter black cab tour takes you round the London locations of the films in a private taxi, and the most reviewed is SEE MORE TAXI TOURS’ Harry Potter film locations tour: 4 hours with a registered guide and hotel pickup, from US$669 for a cab of up to six (checked October 2026). That is about US$111 each when six share it. It is rated 4.8 out of 5 from 76 reviews.

The listing reads like a checklist of the films: Gringotts, the Knight Bus bridge, the Leaky Cauldron as it appears in the first film and in Prisoner of Azkaban, the bridge the Death Eaters destroy in Half-Blood Prince, the broomstick flight down the Thames in Order of the Phoenix, and King’s Cross, where the guide brings photos of the props used for the Ministry of Magic and Platform 9 3/4. One reviewer singled out a guide who went out of his way to get photos of the family and kids at every location.

The stops, by name
The shorter Harry Potter Black Cab Tour publishes its route, which is the clearest picture of what a cab can link in half a day:
- King’s Cross and St Pancras, for Platform 9 3/4.
- Leadenhall Market, the covered Victorian market in the City.
- St Paul’s Cathedral and the Millennium Bridge, the steel footbridge across the Thames.
- Australia House on the Strand.
- The West End: Trafalgar Square, Chinatown, Leicester Square and Shaftesbury Avenue, then Cecil Court and Goodwin’s Court, the narrow lanes near Leicester Square.
- Claremont Square in Islington.
A cab is the easy way to do this because the stops are spread out: from King’s Cross to the City to the West End is a long walk, and by Tube a string of changes. In the cab you step out, take the photo and get back in.
What none of these tours includes
The Warner Bros. Studio Tour, where most of the films were shot, is a separate trip to Leavesden, outside London, and the full-day tour’s own listing says it does not go there. These cab tours are the London locations only. Entry fees and lunch are extra, and so is the tip.
The listing also says plainly that the tour is not an official Harry Potter event or endorsed by Warner Bros. What you get is a licensed cab, a registered guide, and the real places.
Practical points
- Group: one price for the cab and up to six people; children count towards the six.
- Pickup: from your central London hotel, and back again after four hours.
- Access: the listing is marked wheelchair accessible.
- Cancelling: free up to 24 hours before.
- Other film tours: the same operator runs a James Bond locations tour and a Sherlock Holmes tour by black cab.
For the classic landmarks instead, the London taxi tours homepage compares the sightseeing cab tours, and the prices guide works out the cost per head for your group.
